Question: What is the most recent book you've read that bored you!?

For me it would be Tracy Chevalier "Burning Bright" - I thought it would be interesting and great, but it turned out to be tosh and boring!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I started to read Pride and Prejudice (by Jane Austen) and it started really well, but then it dragged on too long and I just wanted to finish it so I could read a book which I wanted to read!. So I carried on avoiding it for months slipping into it for a page or two at a time (I read other books, like the sort of teenage nonsense ones)!.

Then I got about half-way through and Lizzie had only just visited her ill sister (I'd recently just watched the film), then I asked myself;

"WHY ON EARTH AM I READING THIS!!?!!?!!?!!?!!?!!? It must be the most dragged on book ever!!!!!!"

It's now under my bed and I'm reading David Copperfield, which I'm enjoying immensely and just show what a great writer Dickens is! There's not a dull sentence I've come across yet in it! And the description is so beautifully done that you can watch Davy going through all the problems, excellent book!

I have to say I liked Jane Fallon's first book "Getting Rid of Matthew" - it made me laugh so I was only happy to buy her second book "Got you Back" but found it utterly boring and it just dragged and I could not relate or connect to any of the characters!.

But then again, since I have read "Kite Runner" a lot of books seem really really bland!.!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some of Extras by Scott Westerfeld!. I think it's unethical to make a fourth book that's supposed to be a continuation and throw completely different characters into the mix!.

I read Penny Smith's book '!.!.!.and coming up next' and it is absolute absolute tosh!. An obvious case of it only getting published because of who she is - a newsreader/presenter who is a lovely person but who cannot for the life of her write a book!. Its awful!. Jilly Cooper she aint!.

I loved The Other Boleyn Girl, and picked it up since it was by the same author, but it bored me about 1/3 in, when I realised I was reading some selfish fictional ex-queen's ramblings about how selfish she was!.

Arundhati Roy's 'The God of Small Things'!. It wasn't so much the content, but rather her structure!. She told things out of chronological order and I found that since I already knew the outcome of the events that she was describing, I didn't really want to read them anymore!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

basically about an alien space ship found abandoned in space which turns out to be completely empty,no equipment,no controls and no inhabitants!.just a giant tin can in space,it was very difficult to get excited about descriptions of empty roomsWww@QuestionHome@Com
