Question: Question on why a writer writes it like that!?
okay, so in some books the writer has it that a person is doing something like staring at someone and they have this - in between each word!. why is that!? an example would be this sentence; "Would have saved me from all that through-the-wall giggling"!. now does anyone know why they did that!? And why is that sometimes they put this in parentheses where other time they just put a single -!. can someone clarify!?

"Through-the-wall" is a single thought adjective!. It's a bunch of words that are all used to create one descriptor!. It's used in word like; Heart-shaped, well-known, etc!. If it's in parenthesis, it's a separate thought entirely and can possibly be taken out of the sentence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

through-the-wall is in a sense, one "word", its a collective descriptive set of separate words that would mess up the grammar and meaning if they weren't joined with those thingsWww@QuestionHome@Com
