Question: Is John Walker Lynn a hero!?
He is an example of the American youth seeking the truth!. He left his country seeking knowledge about Islam in places like Yemen and Afghanistan!. He found himself in difficult situations that led him to where he is now serving 20 years in prison!. He never killed nor harmed any body!. Don't you think he deserves some respect and admiration!?!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes by all means he is a true hero that USA should be proud of!. He was not happy with Bush policy of occupying other peoples land in the name of fighting terrorism!. He left his country as you said to know the other point of view!. He learned Arabic and memorized the Quran!. He found himself fighting with Taliban but never used his gun!.

I wish all American youth are as sincere and honest as he is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, you say this as if any "American youth seeking the truth" somehow qualifies as a hero!. He's just another 20 something looking for answers, might as well claim a 20 year old heroin junkie is a hero!. He chose to associate with a well known, brutal band of thugs!. "He never killed or harmed any body", except he was willing to live with the Taliban, a group that did little to hide its brutality towards the people of Afghanistan!. Whether he harmed anyone personally will remain unknown, he can be proven to have accepted the hospitality of brutes!. He chose to be with people that routinely killed, raped, and beat people for deviating from or refusing to accept their harsh religion!.

So what is so heroic!? Merely undertaking a quest for enlightenement is not heroic, how you react to the trials of that quest makes you a hero!. What next you'll claim that the true heroes of the Odyssey are the sailors who succumbed to eating Lotus!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Today the West is in its ultimate stage of decline!. Islam is one of the few bastions left in this world that still carries the beacon of spirituality!. The Taliban fighters are therefore warriors of God because God is Truth (as Mahatma Gandhi famously stated), and truth can only be found in oneself, not drowned in materialist orgies (as the Western media wants to make it out by propagating consumer excess)!.

John Phillip Walker, a white American from a middle-class family in California, follows in the footsteps of all the foreign volunteers to fight for cultural dignity and the spirit of idealism!.

It was surely a sign of Providence that John Walker was one of only 86 survivors (out of almost 3,000 Taliban fighters) of a brutal four-day battle in the Northern Afghan fortress of Kala Jangi!.

hello

John Phillip Walker Lindh (born February 9, 1981) is an American who was captured during the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan while serving in the Taliban army!. He was subsequently sentenced to twenty years in prison, which he is currently serving!.

He was interrogated on December 14!. While on the Peleliu, he signed confession documents while he was held by the United States Marine Corps and informed his interrogators that he was not merely Taliban but al-Qaeda

On July 15, 2002, he entered his plea of guilty to aiding a terrorist organisation and carrying weapons!. The judge asked Lindh to say, in his own words, what he was admitting to!. Lindh's allocution went as follows: "I plead guilty", he said!. "I provided my services as a soldier to the Taliban last year from about August to December!. In the course of doing so, I carried a rifle and two grenades!. I did so knowingly and willingly knowing that it was illegal!." On October 4, 2002, Judge T!.S!. Ellis, III formally imposed the sentence: 20 years without parole

So he is not a hero , he chose to join an organisation known for terrorist activities and known to be anti american !.!.!. and therefore he is a traitor !.!.!. and is lucky he was not executed for treason !
