Question: STEPHENIE MEYER'S QUOTE!?
Stephenie Meyer said after writing Twilight, "I've always admired the ability of some authors to create situations of impossible fantasy, and then add characters that are so deeply human that their perspectives make the situation believable!. I hope Twilight offers readers the same experience!." Do you think that the book actually does give readers that experience!? In my opinion (now all you twilight fans out there, please respect my opinion by not ranting at me just because i disagree with you) the characters lack any depth at all!. What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Twilight Saga was definitely an interesting read if you are into Young Adult and Fantasy stories, but I do think that her characters were pretty one-sided!.

Bella was mainly selfless and in love with Edward!.
Edward was troubled and in love with Bella!.
Jacob was the best friend and was in love with Bella as well!.

!.!.!.And those were the three main characters!. Not too much depth, you see!?

I enjoyed reading the Twilight series, but if you are looking for a well written, complex (but not confusing) fantasy/young adult series, I highly recommend Harry Potter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with you!. Meyer failed to give me any reason to like her characters!. They seemed to be inserted into the book as an afterthought, adding their two cents and background stories!. Even their history seemed lacking something the masters of literature had molded into their characters!. The character I feel lacks the most depth is Bella, and that should not happen because she is the main character!. Her situation tried to make her look selfless, but the fact that she didn't WANT to move to Forks for her mother's sake made her even more selfish!.
I was hoping by the third book to feel SOMETHING for SOMEONE, but there was no character development whatsoever; just more background stories!. Meyer spoke the truth in this quote, but Twilight did not give me the same experience as most books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are of course, entitled to your opinion!. Personally, I think Stephenie Meyer tends to give the spotlight to one character at a time, but I do feel like I know these characters, so I don't think they lack depth completely!.
For instance in Breaking Dawn she was so busy telling what was going on with Bella, which is understandable, I guess, Esme was a totally unnecessary character!. I don't even remember her having any lines!.!.!.same with Rosalie, and even Alice!. She just wasn't as present as she usually is!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
