Question:

I can't remember a whole lot about this book but I'm really hoping it might ring a bell with someone out there!. It's an older book, probably written around the sixties or seventies and it's sort of a science fiction/fantasy book!. I'm fairly certain it was quite popular and was even made into a movie although I remember the movie was terrible!. The biggest clue I remember is that there was some sort of humanoid type creature (or maybe creatures) that lived in a community and they were very peaceful beings!. There were asexual I believe!. I seem to think they may have been almost white in colour, and for some reason I think there species name, or maybe the given name for one of the was something like "Enoch"!. Can anybody out there help me to remember what this might be!? I was thinking it might be the Chrysalids, but I don't think it is!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow - it was written a bit earlier than the 60s! It's the Time Machine by HG Wells (published 1895) - the beings are the Eloi (sp!?), childlike, beautiful and peaceful!. They are menaced by the subterranean, cruel and bestial Morlocks!.

Two films have been made - one in the 60s and one just a few years ago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It wouldn't be "The Time Machine" by H G Wells, would it!? It was written much earlier, published in 1895, but there is a race of people called Eloi who live on fruit and vegetables!.
