Question: Your stand on Book Banning!?
This week is nation book banning week!. People generally read books that some people think should be band!. I don't think book banning is right!. I mean most of those books are fiction!. So it's not true!. The author didn't intend anything!. What's your stance on book banning!? And "banned" books do you recommend!.

Thanks!. Please be polite on your answer!. I don't want shouting!.!.!. I've had a rough weekWww@QuestionHome@Com

Book banning is BS!. People should be able to read what they want!. And if I'm going to Hades because I read HP or The DaVinci Code, so be it!.
My take on it is this: nobody's forcing THEM to read the book!. If other people want to read a "controversial book" then so what!? Stay out of other people's business!!!
Anyhooooo!.!.!.
I would recommend Harry Potter, The DaVinci code, His Dark Materials Trilogy, and more that I can't think of!. Lol, my rule is basically "If it's controversial, it's bound to be good, so it's worth a try"!.
And sorry you've had a tough week!. =DWww@QuestionHome@Com

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a book called Slaughterhouse Five - banned for being the first in print to ever use the phrase, MF-er!.

Banning should be done by the market!. Banning them only brings unwanted attention by those trying to keep them out of the public eye!. If a book is truly trash the market will not put money into it, and ban it by itself!. If a book is libelous, then the law will ban it for defaming someone in an illegal manner!.

We have a means of banning in place and it's by not taking the work to the cash register!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can almost go the other way too!. Obviously you don't want X-rated stuff in your children's school library!. I think libraries should get to pick and choose what they want to include, and checking out books is a form of feedback, like the free market system!. also teachers should offer some guidelines on what to read for book reports and stuff but don't "ban" anything that fits a child's reading level!.
The link I include in "Sources" is the Wikipedia list of banned books and the reason they were banned!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Were doing this in english at the moment, i think it is ridiculous
By banning a book your stopping the younger generations from learning about past mistakes, if they dont learn then we will only make these mistakes again
We are studying to kiil a mockingbird, which has been banned for racial discrimination amongst other titles, but people are made to learn about this in history so whats wrong with putting it into a fictional book!?
Books such as alice in wonderland have also been banned in the past for drug references ect, but i say is a 7 yr old really going to understand thiis - is this really going to make a 7 yr old want to take drugs i ask!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are books that I think are inappropriate, but I wouldn't band them!. It would go against freedom of speech a person can't just infringe on a person's rights just because you don't like what they say!. If you don't like it don't read it, we aren't the Nazis you know!.

Just because a book is fiction does not mean the author was not trying to make a point!. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been on someones ban list ever since it first came out, Mark Twain was making a point about racism and the society of his time

You should not ban books @ school, because it is not the school's job to tell kids what is appropriate or not, it's the parents--now i'm not saying porn is okay b/c i think that is already illegal to have porn at school--but in Missouri schools were asked to ban a book called 19 minutes, it's about a school shooting from the shooter's perspective, the school's decided that the book wouldn't be banned but the kid's needed to have parent's permission to read it, when I was younger like say in elementary I had to have my parent's permission to read any books that were made for high school students, I think that is the best thing someone could do (it's the best medium)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love banned books week!. It's a great holiday and a way to expose the injustice of censorship towards great books!. To Kill a Mocking Bird! Harry Potter! The Da Vinci Code! All wonderful books and it's atrocious that people are saying well, 'I think this, therefore I'm right and therefore no one should read it cause I say so!.' If I'm reading books its because I've have my own mind and the capability to make my own decisions thankyouverymuch!. I wish that we could follow the 1st amendment of freedom of speech; I can say/publish what I want!. You don't like it!? That's fine!. But, please don't go making up everyone else's mind for them!!

Go Banned Books week!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Banning books is foolish!. It's been tried for hundreds of years and it has never worked!. The bigger the fuss you make about the books, the more people look for them, even if they're banned!.

Banned books I recommend!? All of them, actually!. I have found few banned books that were not worth reading!.

I don't think that they should band any books because if they think a book is bad enough to be band then they need to look at it from the authors point of view!. And i think that's the problem a lot of people have one track minds so they think wrong of the book!. Do Not band books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think banning books is ridiculous!. Just like censoring anything else on television, with the exception that it is not for children below 5!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
