Question: Please read!.!.!.!. it has to do with a lot of people !!!!!?
I have read many questions asked by people that has been affected by hurricane Ike and it seems like no one cares if they get help or not!.It seems like to me that Katrina victims are the only one that got help from Fema!.Why do you think this is happening!.Do you think that certain people just yelled louder !.And the government was afraid of being sued for discrimination!.I mean I feel sorry for the people here in Texas and it seems like no one cares for them!.I don't care what color they are!.Aren't Texas victims just as bad off as those in La in these circumstances!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perhaps it takes a little time to get the aide they need, though didn't the Red Cross and Salvation Army come to their aide immediately!? also, I don't agree that we've run out of money!. It takes redistributing which takes time!. Thank God people did not die!. also, many have insured their homes, so the insurance companies should be taking care of a lot of the personal property damage!. also, do call!. You would be surprised at what a real phone call can do!. People don't know what the need is by osmosis!. They need to call radio stations, tv stations, government officials, churches, the Washington DC area has all sorts of agencies designed to help people meet their needs!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because disasters are happening all over the world all the time!. For one thing its wearing us out, we can't really do anything right now because no one in this country really has any money due to the economy problems, and it's just so common now that unless it's happening to you or someone you know, it doesn't concern you anymore!.
Katrina was just a reality check to everyone who thought, "this can't happen to me; " A lot like 911!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

katrina took out a whole damn city!. And it took FEMA over a week to help ANYONE there!. And there are plenty of good people helping out these people just like they did in Katrina, giving up their time and homes to let hurricane victims stay with them!. The damn government is more concerned with the economy right now and making up schemes to get people's money, we as americans only react to what they show us over and over again on TV!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Let me set you straight FEMA is handling the people that were affected by Ike but Katrina was a much worse storm and many more people were affected and Don't ever forget the people in MS that were affected by Katrina!.!. the eye of the storm hit MS and did the most damage in MS but who gives a crap about MS right!.!.especially when it's so much easier to feel sorry for NO!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it was because most people didn't know how bad Katrina was, they thought it was just any old regular Storm so they stayed home, but it turned out to be a gigantic Storm and alot of people died, this time, everybody knew that hurricane ike is going to be a Major storm, so alot of people fled their homes and ran away so not alot of people got hurt!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that the elections are hogging all the attention on the news!. Katrina got a lot of publicity, but this election year has been crazy on TV - hence the horrors of Ike have yet to reach the ears of most Americans and this means a slower reaction or none at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i agree with you 100% Katrina victims really did yell louder, and it really shouldn't be based on color, they should get the equal amount of help!. Plus, this probably has nothing to do with it, probably does though, Katrina got 10x more media coverage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Welcome to america!. it was the many media coverages showing the people that got the action!. If the government doesn't get strong armed to help people financially they won't, but they will try to pass a 700 billion dollar bail out because lobbyiests breath down their throat!.

I agree with you and I think one factor could be that Galveston and Houston seems to be a place for wealthy people unlike louisiana, and maybe that give us a wrong perspective about the hole desaster!.!.!.Don't you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

they should get some help, but the government, as it seems, would probaly be more interested if they hurricane were to hit a place where rich people lived!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

george bush said the fish just aren't biting in texasWww@QuestionHome@Com

Your totally right!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I heard they were being assisted!. With money from fema and help with housing!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree they should get help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that is true i think that they should get helpWww@QuestionHome@Com

because the people in katrina didn't do it to themselves
when katrina hit, it was a much more powerful storm
it broke levees and destroyed a huge city, killing tons of people
why did those people stay!?
no one would take them out!. most people who got stuck in katrina didnt have cars and many werent wealthy or mobile, so they had absolutley no way to get out of the city

the people in texas were given urgent evacuation orders by every warning system availiable!. the weather channel even issued a warning that said if people stayed, they would die!. not "might""may" or "chance of severe destruction", but "you will die"
but people stayed, not because they couldnt move (katrina victims), but because they didnt want to inconvience themselves and they wanted to 'ride out the storm'

yea, katrina people yelled louder, because they got screwed over when trying to leave!. people got marooned in that city and then got plunged into total chaos!. texas and ike, though bad, never reached the scale of catastophe that katrina did
and its not government discrimination either, seeing as we have more pressing needs (economy anyone!?)

yes, i feel bad for people in texas!. but they were being stupid, especially defying ultimate evacuations and warnings!. and they are in no way as bad off as katrina victims, many of whom still have houses that are molding and in total disorder

EDIT: yup, katrina folks were told!. but as i said, the people who got left were poor!. NO hauled people out with school buses but there were too many people and not enough timeWww@QuestionHome@Com
