"Canon" originally meant a code of law or standard of judgment!. In that way, it has come to refer to a list of authoritative texts that depict the highest quality of literature!. For example, a religious canon would have to include the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, and other texts!.

I'm not sure if there is an "official" English canon used in your class, but one could probably include works by authors such as Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Dickens, and others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
