If you'll take the time to mail a copy of your work to yourself via registered mail and leave it unopened, if you have a lawyer, mail a copy to him, too!. Anyone who tries to plagiarize your work or steal your idea can be sued for all the earnings of said work!. That done, you can ask anyone COMPETENT to edit and critique your work!. Ask friends who are readers to look at it and ask them to make notes of the things that don't sit well with them !.!.a word and a page number is sufficient!.

If your book is selected for publication, you will be assigned an editor who will help you rewrite scenes, chapters, even endings sometimes, correct your syntax, insert proper punctuation and in general help deliver a very readable book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you mean writers in general, you edit it yourself and get others you trust to do the same, then ship it off!. If it's selected for publishing, you'll get an editor (or a board of them) who'll check for all those little errors in the writing!. At least, that's what I've heard!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
