You should definitly try reading Jane Austen!. The woman is a genuis!. If you are just starting out, I would read them in the following order:

- Pride and Prejduice!. Her best most popular, well-known novel!. The simplest plot, and good for getting used to her langaguge!. If you need any help understand any of it, then go to GCSE bitesize, english literature, Pride and Predjudice, where there is everything you need to help you understand the plot!.http://www!.bbc!.co!.uk/schools/gcsebitesiz!.!.!.

- Then I would go on to Sense and Sensibilty!. It is another one of her most well-known novels, and the plot isn't too complicated!. It is another very popular novel!. If you need help understand it, go here: http://www!.gradesaver!.com/classicnotes/t!.!.!.

- Then I would try Emma!. It is often hailed as her best novel, and I found this one easy enough to follow!. There aren't that many characters to get confused with!. Need help with this, and go here: http://www!.gradesaver!.com/classicnotes/t!.!.!.

- Then I would try Mansfield Park!. I found this much more hard to follow then the others, because I found it kind of slow!. I still loved it, but I understood it better once I had seen the film trailer for it!.

- Then Persausion!. One of her lesser known novels, Persausion is still loved by a lot of people!. Try it!.

- Then Norhanger Abbey!. I haven't acctually read that one yet, so I can't say much, but I am planning to!.

-Then, you could try her other ones if you want!. Sandition and other stories, the ones that aren't that famous, if you love her other stuff!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree wholeheartedly with the first answer!.!.!.!. Pride and Prejudice

because the novel was written in the early 1800's !.!. the language IS a little different to what you may be used to!.!.!. but please keep trying!.!.and if it makes it easier!.!.!.!.

try and get the Colin Firth's Darcy ( bbc production ) Pride and Prejudice and watch it !.!. It will help you get into the book

It is a very clever book !.!. rather funny in many places!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

how about starting with her first and then move up the ladder this way you will be able to see the possible differences in her writing and story telling!.
