Is there really any difference between an official author's bio and a unofficial bio!?

If so, can someone please tell me what it is!. I tried doing a google search but I'm coming up with nothing!. =/

An official author's biography is one written by the author or one written for the author and is approved by him/her!. An unofficial is one written about an author but is probably not 100% correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe that an unofficial biography is a biography of a person that is written from what is available to the public!. So, the biographer composes their work based on public records, newspapers, etc!. In an official biography, the person who is written about discloses facts and details that are normally not available to the general public!.

I cannot guarantee my answer, but I do know that during my undergraduate years I was told by my English professors to avoid unofficial biographies!.

"Official" means it has been approved by the subject or his or her estate!. It would be written with the estate's approval and with access to papers and letters!. Usually there is only one!. The fact that it's official does not guarantee that it's accurate!. "We'll let you look at the papers, but you must promise not to write about that incident in Cairo!."

An unofficial bio might not be correct, and I would not do like, a report or somthing using one!. The official bio will be at least 85% correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
