Hi there!.
You are the same age as me (actually a year younger) so my advice is:- classics!. I have been rereading some classic books recently and have found them much better than I remembered - I was too young before, I think!.
Middlemarch, by George Eliot!.
War and Peace, By Leo Tolstoy!.
The Mayor of Casterbridge, by Thomas Hardy!.
North and South, by Elizabeth Gaskell!.
Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens!.
Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo!.
The Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins!.
The Secret Agent, by Joseph Conrad!.

There is so much more in them than I ever realised, it is like having them new all over again!
Enjoy, Steve!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you don't mind books that are a little on the "literary" side, and if you like books that really deal with deeper experiences of just struggling with what it means to be human, some great reads I have had are these: "The Arrangement" by Elia Kazan, a three book trilogy by Henry Miller called "The Rosy Crucifixion" The three books separately are: "Nexus" "Sexus" and "Plexus" I don't know what those names mean but don't be put off by them, he's a great writer!.
"White Oleandar" by Janet Fitch
These books are all novels that are closely based on the writer's life, but don't just tell a story, they also deal with deep truths about the human experience!. "The Arrangement" and "The Rosy Crucifixion" might be a little hard to find because they are older, but your library or any bookstore can get them if you order them!.
Another really good book but one that does not seem to be autobiographical, but who knows, is "Sula" by Toni MorrisonWww@QuestionHome@Com

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells & Queen of Babble, and tons of others), Sophie Kinsella's (Shopaholic [soon to be movie] & Remember Me), Jennifer Weiner (Good in Bed & Certain Girls) and Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed & Something Blue) books!.They are all great authors!
