Question: Favorite and worst jane austen novel!? !?
What is your favorite Jane Austen novel!? Why!? Which is your least favorite Jane Austen novel!? Why!? What order would you read them in!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
My favourite is Persuasion!. It's the most emotional and heartfelt, and says a lot about the society at the time!. Okay so I totally made that sound boring XD! Captain Wentworth is an underrated hero and the best bit (a beautiful love letter) made me bawl like a child!

Emma is my least favourite because the story has been redone so many times I could read the book blindfolded!. I mean, come on, even Clueless nicked the storyline! Not Jane Austen's fault ofcourse, but just my personal opinion!.

The order I read them in was Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma and then Mansfield Park!. Pretty unconventional I guess!. You might want to read the better known ones first incase you have a trouble with following the language at first, because at least you'll have an idea of what's going on, but it's not difficult once you get into it!. also then you can save the lesser known ones for later (because in my opinion they're more interesting!)

Favorite: Persuasion (today, some days it's not)
Least Favorite: Mansfield Park

Order to Read:
1 - Pride and Prejudice - it's Austen's best known work, might as well start there and make sure you like her style, etc!.
3 - Emma - P&P preps you for the "upper" class in Emma
2 - Sense and Sensibility - after reading Emma, you get more of a sense of what they've fallen from
3 - Mansfield Park - Fanny is pretty much the lowest you can go, so it continues the decline
4 - Northanger Abbey - it starts the societal assent
5 - Persuasion - you revist the Bath you became so familiar with and enjoy a story that encompasses a lot of everything you've read

I think P&P is my favorite, because I think it has the most fun plot and because Mr!. Darcy is like 10 different kinds of hot!. Seriously!. Least favorite, probably Mansfield Park - it's a little on the dull side, and Fanny's kind of a wet noodle of a character, in my opinion!. I think reading the books in publication order is probably best: S&S, P&P, MF, Emma, NA and Persuasion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite is Mansfield Park because I think the minor characters are delightfully villainous, often without even knowing it!. Mrs!. Norris, for example, is terrible, but fun to read about and laugh at!. Besides, where else would a character tell Fanny that he will knock her up in the morning!?

I think my least favorite is Northanger Abbey!. I know it's a parody of the Gothic, but sometimes it seems too Gothic for my taste!.

The fact is I love all six and would recommend reading them in any order whatsoever!. I read Pride and Prejudice first, then Sense and Sensibility, then Mansfield Park, Emma, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
