Dont you remember in the first book Bella asked him the same question she asked him if he had to eat food what would happen!. And he told her that she could eat dirt couldnt she!. And then he ate a piece of her food at the lunch table to prove his point!. So he can eat human food it just tastes really nasty to him so he prefers not to eat just like we would prefer not to eat dirt

Hope that helped =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stephenie Meyer explained this on her website!. She said they can eat food (I mean, Edward ate pizza in Twilight, remember!?!?!?!?!?) and that they eventually have to "cough" it up!.

He can eat real food- it just tastes really gross, and when he eats it, he has to regurgitate it up!. It explains this in the Midnight Sun partial draft which is downloadable on Stephenie Meyer's website!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh he can, it's just that he associates it with eating dirt :D
He does it to keep up the tradition, and to play the charade that he is human!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
