Can you please recommend me a book!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I am taking English Lit at university at the moment so during term time I do a lot of reading - on average seven novels, five literary theory/philosophy/other factual essays/books and about twenty poems of varying lengths (some very long)!. It's a lot especially if you don't skim them (I usually don't) but hey I love to read so who cares!.
When it's not term time, during holidays, I read mostly books of my own choosing and in a more leisurely way - I'd say about five a month and maybe some extra things like historical books (especially medieval ones) as well!.
As for recommending you a book!.!.!.Well it's hard to say without knowing any info on what you like/how old you are! I'll just give you some books that I think are probably excellent for any age and tell you the type of book they are!.!.!.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - for romance, vampires
Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien - for classic fantasy
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin - for mature and extremely well-written, complex fantasy
The Gilded Chain by Dave Duncan - amazing plot and characters in a Renaissance-ish style fantasy with lots of swashbuckling and magic
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley - for a classic novel that is endlessly thought provoking
The Odyssey of Homer - absolutely essential epic poem that is part of the backbone of Western literature, so exciting and inventive as well
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle - a classic mystery novel that I read when I was quite young and it scared me a lot! Very good atmosphere as well as storyline

Happy reading!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read, depending on the book and the amount of time I have (and how much time I stay offline during that spare time!), about a book a week (4 per month)!.

I think, more than your age, the question would be your interests!.

If you like historical fiction at all, I would recommend James Michener or Edward Rutherford!. Their books are long, but filled with detail!.

Jeffrey Archer is good, too, for novels about British based themes!.

If you like science fiction at all, then anything by Isaac Asimov, such as his Foundation series or Robot-related books, are fun, and fairly simple and quick reads, and thought provoking as well!. He has written in a lot of different subject areas!.

Ray Bradbury is also good for a thought provoking story!. He has written a lot of short stories as well as novels!. Mostly, but not entirely in the science fiction genre!.

Good, quick reading that is worth the time would be Dean Koontz or Stephen King or John Grisham!.
Stephen King's The Stand is one that I have read several times!. It is long, but is not a difficult read, and is closest to being "mainstream" (rather than "horror")!. An excellent story of the fight between good and evil!.

Tolkien's work--Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy!. Involved story lines, but well worth the effort!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on how much I've got going on but I'll read about 15-20 books a month!. Sometimes I'll read two books in a day!. We're talking Harry Potter sized books here too, not 60 page children's books!.

Some good books-
The Wrinkle in Time Series (5 books)
Twilight Series (4 books)
Harry Potter Series (7 books)
The Uglies Series (4 books)
The Chronicles of Narnia (7 books)
All the Dan Brown books (Angels&Demons, The DaVinci Code, Digital Fortress and Deception Point)
If you enjoy mystery anything by Agatha Christie- my personal favorite is Murder on the Orient Express!. Its brilliant!.

These are some good ones that'll keep you busy for a while!. Enjoy!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Read American Gods by Neil Gaiman!. It's a fantastic story based on the theory that all the gods that have ever been worshipped (Egyptian, Nordic, Roman, etc) are still alive today, but in greatly changed forms!. It's amazing if you're looking for fiction that will transport you!. In fact any of Gaiman's books are!.
If you like horror, try Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill!. It's about an aging rock star being chased across America by a ghost!. His descriptions and pacing are breathtaking!.
Oh, and I probably read 4 or 5 a month!.!.!.I am constantly picking up old favorites and getting caught up in them again! Happy reading!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read about five or six a month (always looking for something good to read!)

Anyway, here are my recommendations:

-Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett (blurb on the back of the book: On a warm October night in Chicago, three deliveries were made in the same neighbourhood!. A plump tangereen moon had just risen over Lake Michigan!. The doorbell had been rung at each place, and an envelope propped outside!.!.!.The same letter went out to all three:

Dear Friend,
I would like your help in identifying a crime that is now centuries old!. This crime has wronged one of the world's greatest painters!. As those in positions of authority are not brave enough to correct this error, I have taken it upon myself to reveal the truth!. I have chosen you because of your discriminating eye, your intelligence, and your ability to think outside of convention!.!.!.Although you may never meet, the three of you will work together in ways none of us can predict!. If you show this to the authorities, you will most certainly be placing your life in danger!.!.!.

The letter was not signed, and it had no return address)!.

-Twilight by Stephenie Meyer!. Here's the blurb so you can see what it's about (also note: It's one of the top 20 books in the bookstores at the moment and one of the top 50 books in 'books you can't put down' list):

About three things I was absolutely positive!.
First, Edward was a vampire!.
Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood!.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him!.

When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks, and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn!. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable!. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret!.

What Bella doesn't realize is that the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk!. And it might be too late to turn back!.!.!.

Deeply seductive, and irresistibly compelling, the book 'Twilight' is an extraordinary love story that will stay with you long after you have turned the final page!.

-Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz (the first book in the Alex Rider series)!. Blurb on the back of the book:

They told him his uncle died in an accident!. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, they said!. But when fourteen-year-old Alex finds his uncle's windshield riddled with bullet holes, he knows it was no accident!. What he doesn't know yet is that his uncle was killed while on a top-secret mission!. But he is about to, and once he does, there is no turning back!. Finding himself in the middle of terrorists, Alex must outsmart the people who want him dead!. The government has given him the technology, but only he can provide the courage!. Should he fail, every child in England will be murdered in cold blood!.

The first in the Alex Rider series by British writer Anthony Horowitz, Stormbreaker will have pulses racing from start to finish!.

Anyway, those are some of my favourite books!. I hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read about 14-18 books a month!.

I can reccomend a book for you if I know your age and choices!. If you're a teenager, you can try A Catcher in the Rye, Harry Potter and a few other popular books!. If you're older, try any book - horror, mystery, children's, comedy!. If you're a child!.!.!.!.!. well, I don't think you are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
