West Egg in the book is in fact Great Neck, Long Island and East Egg is Manhasset!.
When they go into town, they are in fact driving into New York City!.

The Fitzgerald's moved to Great Neck, Long Island after their first child was born, and F!. Scott appropriated it as the setting of his novel!.

The two peninsulas can be seen on any map of Long Island!. They are on the north shore in Nassau County, just east of Queens borough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

West Egg and East Egg are real places!. The story was set in northeast Connecticut, but the state is never mentioned, only the cities (Fitzgerald's wife is from a suburb out of West Egg, Connecticut)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
