what was the significance of the ravine!? And if the ravine were replaced with a baseball field would the story still work!? why, why not!?

read this a while ago but!.!.!.i think the ravine is the dark, dangerous "underbelly" of the town!. up top, things are nice and quaint and happy and ordinary!. down in the ravine, it's dark & dangerous & scary & full of shadows & who knows what!.

if you replaced it with a baseball field, or anything, things would be different!. the ravine is a symbol of the dark side of small-town life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
