Position:Home>Books & Authors> I wanna write a book... ?

Question: I wanna write a book!.!.!. !?
Well, I am pretty much set on being an author when the time comes, and I have a few nice ideas for some short stories!.

But it just isn't good enough!. I really want to write a NOVEL!. I want to wind up like J!.K!. Rowling, an average person who over night (not literally), became famous due to a fantastic story line!.

I'm really in to writing romance novels at the moment, perhaps because of the fact that I myself am in love, and I'd most likely want to write something along those lines!.

I'm also interested in writing books about history, though being fiction!.

The result is a historic romance!.

Ideas!? Suggestions!? Tips!? Comments!?

If you think about being a writer constantly and feel the desire to write this strongly, then you're meant to be a writer!. Don't worry about not being good enough!. Very few people sit down and write a masterpiece on the first try without having any revisions, criticisms, or rejections along the way!.

There are things you can do to improve your writing skills!. You can read!. You'll be surprised at how much you can learn about writing simply by reading what other writers have written!. You can take a creative writing class in high school or college!. You can be an English major in college!. English programs are writing intensive, and you'll learn a lot!. I learned a lot when I was in college getting my English degree, and my writing improved a lot as a result!. also, there are lots of books about writing!. Search the internet, or go to your local bookstore!. Again, you'll be surprised at how much you can learn from these "how to" books!.

In the meantime, continue to write!. Practice makes perfect, and this is very true with writing!.

Most of all, though: Have fun! Don't stress out about it!. Writing can be a great career that will reward you financially, of course!. If you're not having fun and enjoying it, though, there's no point!. You might as well move on and do something else in that case!.

If you're meant to be a writer, it'll happen!. Just be patient and stick with it!. In time, you'll discover that there will be stories inside you that just HAVE to be told!. They'll gnaw away at your brain until you finally sit down at your computer and type the words on the screen!. That's how it's been for me at least!.

Just stay with it and keep your goals in mind and you'll be fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey! I'm fourteen and I've written, still typing it up, a book!. And I've started writing another one!. Here are some tips:
1!. Don't expect to be always thinking of ideas, you sometimes hit roadblocks, sometimes called writers block!.
2!. Take it slowly and let your ideas flow!.
3!. Write out a list on what you might have happen and a list of characters and their personalities!.
4!. Do normal things like hang out with your friends, its not that fun staying up until midnight typing!.
5!. Watch what people usually do and say so then your characters seem more real!.
6!. Use big words and good grammar!. :)
I hope that helps you!

also read lots of different books!. It helps grammar and seeing what format books are in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Putting romance together with history might be a little difficult, at least it would be for me!. I love to write, and love stories are my favorite things to write!. My advise to you is start of with something easy, don't plan something huge that's going to aggravate you and may cause you to give up on that story!. Start with something small, and build up from there!.
Having a basic story line helps, but I'll tell you from experience you're probably going to stray from it!. I know I have, quite often!. Things come into my mind when I'm writing and sometimes my fingers run away from me!.
Develop a character that you can enjoy writing, and that you can relate to, don't make him/her too grand, cause then you'll be in trouble when you find your character contradicting themselves!.
But all-in-all, just be creative, let your mind get the better of you, and make sure that you're having fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi, the main thing to do is to read, read and read novels of your intended genre!. They are the real thing and have managed to get published!. As for writing a novel, get ready for some hard work and hair pulling!. I normally start with just a paragraph of an idea, I then write another paragraph and keep going adding characters and conflict until I have quite a detailed outline of between 20 & 40 pages!. Then I break these down into chapters using index cards!. I write the name of the chapter on one side and a breakdown of the chapter on the reverse!. When this is done I start writing!.
The benefit of the outline I find is that it is easy to add things or remove them and still keep track of the overall structure!. The benefit of the chapter cards is that you can choose any chapter you feel like writing!.
This way of writing suits me but may not suit you!. There are many ways to begin a novel one of which is just to start at page one and carry on until the end!. The only problem with this is that you can easily become lost in the middle and end up with a big problem!.
Anyway I hope this was of some use, I am sure you will get plenty of other good ideas!. The main thing is to sit down and do it!.
Happy plotting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
