What is your opinion on a novel switching between first and third person point of view!? I know that the Pendragon Adventure series by DJ McHale does this, but what do you think!? For example, the story I have in mind has the primary main character telling her part of the story in first person point of view, then two of the secondary main characters, the villain so to speak who is from a group called the Syndicate and a friend of hers who is something called a Hunter, has their parts of the story in third person point of view!. I did this because these characters each represent an opposing force that is after her!.
The switching would be separated by chapters or page breaks, and the start of each section would make it clear who was speaking!. My reason for this is I tried going with just the main character's point of view, but there was a lot of information and plot that was being left out!. I tried going entirely third person point of view and then jumping between the three characters, but that didn't feel right either!.
So what's your opinion on it!? Should I just find a way to make either first or third person POV work, or would something that switched POV like this be interesting!? I've read in a lot of places that its best and preferable to stick with just one, but there are books out there that use both!. There's a reason that applies to the plot for why it does this, like in the Pendragon series, and I'm thinking if I go this route that I'd put an Epilogue with the reason why if this way seems like it's a good idea!. Thanks in advance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
