Question: Am I writing at a normal rate!?
I'm writing a novel and I spend four to six hours writing!. And in that time I only get about 2 to 3 pages written!. My typing speed isn't super fast, but it's average!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no such thing as a 'normal' rate of writing!. Everyone has their own comfort zone!. I know some super-fast writers, but their work is hardly world shattering!. On the other hand, I know writers who take years to produce a novel, but the end result is well worth reading!.

The only thing I would ask though, is do you plan!? On http://ajbarnett-story!.blogspot!.com/sear!.!.!. there are three post related to planning!. I fully advocate forming a plan before you write!. It really does help you to be more efficient!.

But please don't worry about your production rate!. Just do your own thing!.

A wise man once told me that "normal" is a setting on a washing machine!. (Or the average "normal" human body temperature is 98!.6 degrees Fahrenheit!.)
Not trying to put off answering your question!. Truly trying to help!.
It's just that if you are serious and so concerned about actually "writing" a novel--Why not actually write it in written form first!. And, "grant yourself permission" to learn to type more quickly during your rest & relaxation times from writing!. There are free typing tutors via computer!. Better yet, sign-up for an actual typing class at a school!. Please believe me, because I tell you true--your typing speed will greatly increase once you have your fingers trained as to where all the letters are on the keyboard!. It's kind of like learning the multiplication tables!.!.!.You've just got to memorize them bit-by-bit!. And, know how to hold your fingers over the "home keys"!. Practice, practice, practice!. Good luck and God bless you, too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, your rate is okay!. Most authors spend almost all day typing and writing, and if you are only getting a few pages done in those hours you are working, then I am sure each page is edited and almost perfect!.

Some people write at a very fast rate, but remember they all have to go back and edit thoroughly!. It you edit right after writing something, it saves you time later!.

Good luck with your novel! Right now your pace and rate seems fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends, if your looking over your work alot (and i mean alot) you might, but it seems slow!.!.!. if your looking at already written work then yes its kinda slow, but if your pulling it out of thin air your doing a fine speed!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

6 hours no not really thats way to long for three pages now if your using a very little font like size 1 thats acceptable!. I used a program called ultra key for apple its really good check it out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
