it is a very sad book - it is the sort that will always stay with you!.!.!.I read it years ago and it still stands out in my mind - especially the ending

details may fade, but the emotion remains

can't say that I'm a huge Steinbeck fan (true, though, I haven't read too much of him beyond this, "The Red Pony" and "The Pearl" - but those two short stories didn't do much for me), but this one stands out!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lots of those school assignment books are like that!. I hated being forced to read 'em!. The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men, Fahrenheit 451, Flowers in the Attic!. Made me sick to my stomach, I was so depressed!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
