Question: How much do Literary Agents cost and how do I get one!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Literary agents make their money by taking a percentage (usually about 15%) of the money you make by selling your books!. They earn this by contacting large publishing houses and pitching them your book!. Many publishers will not take an unrepresented client, so you need an agent for them!. Smaller, independent publishers don't always need you to have an agent!.

They get a percentage of sales!. If they want to charge you upfront, it's a scam!.

Get a "Writers Market" for a list of legitimate Agents and that same book will let you know what genre they specialize in and it will tell you what they want from you: a one page query, or a multiple page proposal!. Send them what they ask for and sit back and wait!.

I would recommend that you send out multiple submissions, because agents are very busy and may take a very long time to respond!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Literary Agents are FREE!. Any one that charges you money is a fraud!. Get a Writer's Market and find one that is appropriate for your book, then query your heart out!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Literary Agents do not cost anything (I believe!.) Try this book:
