Before sending anything out haphazardly, get or buy a copy of Writer's Market!. First, before checking the listings, read the introductory articles which will provide information on how to submit manuscripts and to whom!. Then study the listings for those publishers who publish material for teenagers and young adults!. Be prepared for rejection, however, as the competition in the publishing world is fierce!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well unless you want to fall for the "Pay us to publish" scheme I would suggest you complete a poem and send it into various magazines!. Publishers don't usually publish a whole volume of poetry if you do not have a track record of publishing elsewhere (as in magazines, e-zines, etc!.)

Unless you go to a vanity press (and PLEASE,PLEASE DON'T) then it is very hard to get published- unless you are talented, and then it's easy!. Try buying a magazine called WRITERS NEWS- it's a monthly publication that runs lots of short-story/poetry competitions, as well as having lots of interesting articles about the business- I found my publisher after reading an article in it!.

YOU WILL GET LOTS OF REJECTIONS- even if your work is good it might still not make the cut!. It took me five years of full-time work before I got my publishing deal!.

try sending something in to your local paper!. they sometimes run writing competitions as well!. are you at school or college!? If so, do you have a magazine there!? go to your local library and look through the writers yearbook for ideas where to send your work!. also look out for competition flyers at the library!. does your local library service run poetry reading sessions!? Look around for groups to discuss your work with!. Above all keep trying!. it is not easy getting stuff published so good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
