Question: The rules for writing and publishing a book!?
Hello- what I want to know are some general rules for writing and, if something ever got to that point, publishing a book!. Basically what I want to know is if I wrote a story that is a pretty general idea, but of course have my own story, can someone still have already written something like that!? I have obviously not read every book and was just wondering what if there is a story already out there that is close to whatever was in MY head- how do I find that out!? Or, does it matter!? Since they won't be the actual same story is that something to not even be concerned with!? Kind of like movies- different versions of similar ideas!. !?!?!? Thanks for anyone who answers this! To write an absolutely original story is probably impossible! Novels generally will be of one genre or another (for instance: romance, science fiction, fantasy, thriller, mystery, etc!.), and yours will undoubtedly fit into one of those categories!. Most books in a genre will have certain attributes or story lines in common!. Unless you copy some published author's works word for word (plagiarism), you should have no problems if your stories possess concepts which are vaguely similar to someone else's!. Obviously, you can not read every book in print in order to be entirely certain that your story is unique!. Simply, when writing (having doubtlessly been influenced by what you have read), be certain that you are introducing plots and themes which are your own!. Unless you can do that, you will not likely interest a publishing company in paying you for your manuscripts as they will be seeking new twists to established plots, and thus your worries will be inconsequential! Don't worry too much; just write! Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
