Question: Why are all these people reading Twilight - for the wrong reasons!?

I read Twilight 2 years ago, and I just fell in love with the series!. No doubt, I'm still a hardcore fan!. But why are all these people these days reading it because everyone else is!? It doesn't seem right; they're not even appreciating the book, they just want to fit "in"!. They're all "OOOH I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN!"!. It's really getting on my nerves!. It feels like they're not respecting the book, or Stephenie Meyer, the author!. Does anyone else feel that way!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yep, I know exactly what you mean!. Everyone in my year level has pretty much read the books, but it's only because I was talking about how good it was non-stop!. Then everyone just started reading it and it all got too out of hand!. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad there are so many people who love the book, and who I can speak to about it, but I agree with you; they don't fully appreciate the books/writing or Stephenie Meyer!. They really ARE reading it just to fit in!. I think it's quite ridiculous!. I mean, I have this thing where once too many people like something that I like, it doesn't feel cossie to me anymore!. I still love Twilight, and it will always be MY thing, everyone knows me as the face of Twilight at school :P But I don't like that so many people are reading it and not seeing the depth and meaning to the story, but rather only looking at the hotness of Edward/Jacob!. I mean, yeah, we all love them, I've always been and always will be Team Edward, but that's not all there is to talk about!. I hate it when I try to talk to people about the depth of the story, and how incredibly developed each and every character is, and all I get it "Yeah, yeah, but HOW HOT IS EDWARD!!?!!?" it does tend to get repetitive!.

I agree that reading something because everyone else is, isn't a good idea!. I think if your going to read a book put the time and effort in to read it properly and appreciate it!. However, perhaps just like Harry Potter books some of these people wouldn't have picked up the book otherwise!. At it might encourage them to read more!.

I have just borrowed the first two from my adult sister, who unlike me (I love reading) isn't much of a reader!. If they weren't popular she probably wouldn't have even noticed them!. Isn't the sort of person to go into a book shop for a browse!. To be honest they aren't a book I'd think about picking up for myself but the fact that my sister who isn't much of a reader enjoyed them is enough for me!. :-)

I think if an author can produce a book, or series of books, that is capable of producing the kind of hype that these books have!. Especially when we have some many other things competing to fill our leisure time that is a good thing - especially if it encourages people to read!.

EVERY girl and a few guys has read the book!. In the hallways, I could hear them say something like, "Geez, Amber, you're acting like Jasper all the time!. Stop doing that or I'll send Emmett to beat you up!" It's so annoying! I cherish the book and respect the author because I'd like to be an author myself, and a book that kicked Harry Potter off the shelves deserves to be respected!. And I hate it that they talk about random stuff about Twilight!. It's just rude and totally mean to the characters of the book!. I love Twilight and think that the words are just beautiful, and I hate it when they joke around with it!. I agree with you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read the book in 2005, when it came out!. I didn't get into it until New Moon after Edward left; I absolutely love it now!.

I am really ticked off that EVERYONE, literally, everyone is reading the series!. It's about vampires, for goodness' sake!. How can you honestly say that so many people are interested in the same thing!? I love Robert Pattinson, not Edward Cullen!. He's fictional!. Jeeeeeezuz!.

I read it two years ago & i still love it but these days everyone is reading it and making it popular probably because of the movie i guess!.
Don't worry it's getting on everyones nerves!. i was trying to hide it from my friends because i wanted to keep it all to my self, it was my home away from home!. Until they found it in my shelves!. then my home away from home became crowded!.
