Most of the novel in is stream-of-consciousness style, which IS rather hard to follow--especially Benjy's part! You've probably read Macbeth recently, or will this year, and recognize the quotation in the title,* and you can see why it's especially appropriate to have Benjy narrate the first part!. However, the prologue, the Compson family history, helps quite a bit!.

Incidentally, I'm a little surprised that that book is being taught in high school!. I read it as a sophomore in college!.

*If you don't, it's in Act V, Scene 5!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Many of the books we read in high school are books for which we are generally ill-prepared!. In this era of comfort, most of us cannot understand the circumstances of a story like Sound and Fury!. Wait ten years, read it again, you'll like it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yup because when we read something during studies we will be like not so focus on the story!.!.!. so read it when you're relaxed!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
