Identification of genre
Protection to actual book
To hook active readers attention
Give a vague idea what the book's about
Something to decorate the actual book
To identify what series it may belong to
To identify a specific symbol of an author

It is a way for the book to be expressed in a visual form, allowing potential readers to quickly identify what the book may be about!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

My guess is so that the pages of the book don't get damaged!. And people get to read the summary at the back and look at the cover to see if they'll enjoy the book or not without actually reading the whole thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

im pretty sure its to keep the book clean!.!.!.so if u spill somethin' like coffee on it or u drop some pizza on it (idk why but!.!.!.watever) then the actual book wont have a stain on it or get greasy!.!.!.so yea!.!.!.HOPE I HELPED!!! BYEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
