Have u tried His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman!?

I know ppl call them kids books, but the subtle undercurrent of religion and morality is very though provoking!. Its a beautifully written triliogy and i suggest you read it, mush better than HP!.

try some Books by Michael Crichton!. There really sciency so idk if you like stuff like that!.

I also read the Green Glass Sea!. that was really good but i forgot who wrote it!.

You could also read the Inheritence series!. Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr (which is coming out on friday) were really good too!.
