Pride and Prejudice is my all time favourite compared to all Austen's books!. The piece I like in the book itself is where Lizzy relates what Mr Darcy thinks of her when he first sees her:- 'She's tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me', I like the small follow-ups on Darcy's reflections,as when he finds that her eyes are beautiful and finally admits that she is 'one of the handsomest women of my acquaintance'!.
In the 1995 BBC version of the book, I like the part when Mr Collins goes to pay his respect to Mr Darcy, although expressly warned by Lizzy against doing so!. Mr Darcy only replies very haughtily ' I'm glad to hear it'!. My friend and I are very fond of that particular phrase and it comes automatically to our mouths!. I also like the portrayal of Mr Collins in that film, how he misses his steps to the mortification of Lizzy and having someone else say to him 'The other way, Mr Collins'!. There is also the price where Lizzy decides to walk to Netherfield when her sister is taken ill!. She meets Mr Darcy and he is so surprised that he says something like ' You came on foot' I can't remember exactly what Lizzy answers but I do know that it is something quite humorous and I laughed quite some time over it!.

Actually there are many bits I like in both the book and the movies but detailing all of them would take too much time!.

In Persuasion(the film), I like the piece at the end where Mr Elliot is trying his best to make himself agreeable to Anne but she is waiting for Frederick and I especially like the look of mortification and utter surprise on Elliot's face when the engagement of Anne is announced to Frederick!.

I enjoyed 'Northanger Abbey' where Catherine, no doubt influenced by the books of Ann Radcliff, takes it into her head to believe that Mrs Tilney is still alive and being held a prisoner at Northenger Abbey and how she examines the place with the vividest of curiosities!.

In the film of Emma, I really like Emma's little asides, like when Harriet takes a decision concerning Mr Elton!. She throws her treasures in the fire and as she says 'Goodbye Mr Elton', Emma is thinking 'Hello Mr Churchill'!. Even the end is humorous where Emma tells Mrs Weston about her real feelings concerning Mr Knightley!. She says of Harriet 'After all we know nothing of her parents!. they may be pirates' although she was the one to defend harries before Mr Knightley and say 'She is a gentleman's daughter'!.
The book in itself is boring though Emma is quite entertaining!.

In Sense and Sensibility I like the piece when all suspence is over, where Elinor asks Edward whether Mrs Ferrars is well and comes to learn that Lucy Steele has married Robert and not Edward!.

In Mansfield park, I like the piece where fanny is proved right in not accepting Henry Crawford when he decides to go and seduce Mrs Rushworth!. I do not particularly fanny Price but I do like this part of the story!.

Hope this helps! I'm sorry if I've been long but I really appreciate Austen and I have enjoyed something or other from each of her books, though P&P is my favourite!. for the humorous, of course none can beat Mrs Bennet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love the conversation between Elizabeth and Lady Catherine in Pride & Prejudice, where Lady Catherine is trying to find out if Elizabeth intends to marry Darcy!. I especially like her un-goodbye at the end, where she says "I take no leave of you, Miss Bennet, I send no compliments to your mother"Www@QuestionHome@Com

The piece where Mr Bennett informs Lizzie that her mother will never speak to her again, if she doesn't accept Mr Collins, "And I will never speak to you again if you do!." I enjoy Mr Bennett's dry, sly, wit!. Great character!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

the scene where edward ferris inquire about elinor and her family 'i trust you all well!." margaret answer "we are experiencing very fine weather!."the look on marianne's face and how she gave margaret a slight push was humorous!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
