Generally speaking scholars regard him as the best of all time!. Many quotations come form his work, and it's thought he invented many words in use today!. He was a big influence on Dickens, Hardy, Herman Melville and many other authors!.

In my opinion however, I think we're now comparing apples and oranges!. Theatre, especially, has moved so far that it's very difficult to stage a Shakespeare production that feels especially relevant today!. Berthold Brecht and Samuel Beckett, for example, wouldn't have fared well in Shakespeare's time as they use so many dramatic techniques that the rebellious audience Shakespeare was writing for wouldn't tolerate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, he's considered the by many to be the greatest author that ever lived, and his works were truly talented!. But as far as his plays go, that just depends on taste!. Some people prefer novels to plays and viceversa!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
