Question: What is the appeal of Jane Austen!?
Okay, Im reading Pride and Prejudice for a book report in school (I had to do a classic)!. But my question is, what is the appeal of Jane Austen's works!? I mean, it's a good story and all, it's written well and intriguing, but what sets her apart from all the other great authors of her time!? What sets her classics apart from others!? I'm only about 150 pages into the story so far (which really stinks considering the report is due this Friday) but am I missing something!?
Thanks for any help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

She was one of the first authors to portray women as having complex inner lives, and she was an astute and witty observer of social interactions!. And, although you can't fully appreciate this until certain revelations are made, Pride and Prejudice is one of the best-written explorations of perspective in the English language!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well Jane Austen was a very intelligent woman, she is set apart from many of other authors because the woman that she write about are strong, and intelligent woman and that's not the way woman were back in the days!. woman had no say in many things and the woman she wrote about were rebellious and they spoke their opinion!. The woman she also wrote about married the people they loved not the man that had the most money!. Woman back in those times married whoever their parents thought was suitable for them!. Jane wrote many beautiful love novels!. Her books are different because the main woman is always blind to whats right in front of her, she ends up falling for the one who she use to despise like in Emma and Pride and Prejudice!.
