It's well-known that the more a person reads, the better writer they become!. Hence, I am trying to become a better writer by reading well-written books with strong vocabularies!.

Any recommendations!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris!. My AP English teacher recommended it to us to help with writing our personal statements for college applications!. It should help you improve your writing style!.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch and Birds Without Wings by Louis DeBernieres have beautiful writing that you may want to check out as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I was studying the construction of novels, I sat down and meticulously diagrammed the entire structure of "Women In Love" by D!.H!. Lawrence!. It does have aspects of plot, but mostly it's about character development and character interaction!. One-hundred pages of notes later, I began to see that novel writing is the same as architecture!. Vocabulary follows, not by reading, but because you are a writer trying to pick out the right bricks to use!.

Any good, meaty, classic novel is always worth the study!. Just don't read it as a reader!. Read it as a writer!. Very different disciplines!.

And don't forget to study "The Elements of Style" by Strunk & White to keep yourself concise and focused!.

My best to you in your literary endeavors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
