Question: In Twilight, Would bella fall in love with edward if he weren't handsome!?

One point I think is that, edward loves bella more no matter what unlike Bella who has boundaries!. And I think I'm right because Do any of you really think Bella would've fallen in love with Edward if he weren't so hot!? Would she even notice him!? I don't think so!. Edward would've loved Bella as the ugly, paled face girl that she was!. Just imagine If vampires were designed to be ugly, okay maybe not ugly, but normal!. As in Average Joe!. Maybe he looked like some random guy with nothing special, everything about him was average!. Would bella fall in love!?

Personally, I think the story would actually be better if Edward was not so excessively glamorous, but somewhat more ordinary!. I think it would be more interesting if he could fascinate with the power of his personality rather than with being ostentatiously attractive!. He might have an ordinary exterior, but his strong character would show through!. I think the vampires are loaded with too much glamour, it's overdone in my opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are forgetting that even if she did not notice him in lunch, she would have run into him during biology where he immediately reacts to her!.

Maybe it wouldn't have been as interesting, maybe Bella wouldn't have had to deal with so much internal conflict right away, but I think she would have fallen for Edward eventually!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

But the point of the book is that this is the greatest romance- girls dream of being with Mr Perfect not Mr Average!. And the idea that Mr Perfect thinks they are beautiful even though they are Miss Plain Jane is very exciting for them!.

She's done a poor job of showing it, but the looks are there to create the mysticism- the idea that Edward is beyond other people, some sort of god!.

Tough one!. Part of the reason I don't like the actor chosen to play Edward!. He is not hot!. He is attractive, with masculine features!. But he doesn't haunt me the way "my Edward" in my mind's eye does!. *shivers*

I think, because of the attractive and luring features Vampires in the book have, Bella would be drawn to Edward no matter what he looked like!.

i think she would have still fallen in love with him!. she only saw him one day then he ran away from her, and during his absence all she did was think of his unusual behavior!. i think that because she was obsessed with knowing why he acted so weird she became to come transfixed with him!. however it didnt hurt that he was put on a pedestal by all the girls in the school, and bella herself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course not!. In fact, can anyone even think of WHY she even fell in love with him!? Sure, he's a gentleman, but what chemistry do they have!? If Edward's apperance was different, but everything else about him was the same, I think she would have fallen more sincerely in love with him!. Lady Shmoe!. I know how you feel!. I think the actor for Edward isn't good at all!. Personally I don't think he is hot at all!. And as for Bella, I would've liked Alexis Bledel to play her (if only she wasn't 26)!. She has naturally pale skin, and the heart-shaped face!. Since, she wasn't cast I think Kristen is good enough!.

also, the only reason Bella was attracted to him, was because of the way he acted!. Yes, the first time she saw him, she only like his beauty, but who wouldn't!? then she hated Edward, even though he was that beautiful, she still hated him for some time!. And I read Midnight Sun on SM website, and Edward doesn't describe Bella as ugly!. He thinks she hot like the other guys at Forks do!. I actually just finished the first book this morning!. Reading between the lines i don't think it's just his face she see's i think its his aura, they are drawn together!. Like the romance of great ages romeo and juliet!.!.!. the truth is we all fall for the looks first because if we are not attracted to someone then what is the point of being with them!?

Sometimes there is little beyond the face that attracts us so the lust soon fades but it doesn't mean you have to be beautiful to be loved as beauty is in the eyes of the person who loves you and everyone has different tastes!.

So to sum up, maybe it was looks originally that drew her to him but when you first meet someone you must admit you think 'ooo they are hot, or no not my type'!. We are only human!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off I disagree with Lady Schmoe, I think the guy they got to play Edward is very hot!. When my best friend told me who was playing him I had my doubts, then I watched the preview and he grew up good lol!.
Now on to answering the question!. True, Edward does love Bella more, and true again that Bella seems a tad shallow but here's my take on it!. I feel that she does truly love Edward and that she would love him even if he weren't so beautiful!. There's like a magnetic pull between the two of them that makes it difficult for them to be apart!. Honestly, have you ever known a teenage girl to take the depression of a break-up that far!? I sure haven't, and I believe that's because Edward is her one true love!. Sure she goes to Jacob for awhile, bu she always remembers Edward!. And when he comes back she may be sorry about hurting Jacob, but there's no other choice for her!. As far as the shallow thing goes, about how all she does is go on about his perfect looks, well that's how most people are about their true love!. Everyone else could think the guy is hideous, but to you he's the most perfect being on earth!. So, YES Bella would love Edward even if he didn't look as good as he does!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a fun question but if we are going to look at it that way we also have to ask this question!.!.!.hehe!.!.!.If Edward had been able to read Bella's thoughts would he have fallen for her!? He saw her face a million times that day in all of the other kids thoughts and saw her as nothing more than an average pale faced girl!. Sure her blood was so appealing to him but if he hadn't been so curious would he have been able to better resit!? I think the point SM was trying to portray was that they fell in love in spite of all of these thing (i!.e him being a vamp and her being so appealing and a mystery to him) and that the time they spent because of these things is what gave them the opportunity to get to know each other and fall in love!.
