Question: What is the worst book you've ever read!? And who is the worst writer!?
I've read some pretty crappy books, but A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks is one of the worst!. I saw every plot development well before it was revealed in the book, the writing was trite and boring, in short I figure Sparks owes me about 4 hours of my life back since that's how long it took me to get through the book!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Walden by Henry David Thoreau!. Dear Lord, he irritates me!. My idea of hell is having to be stuck with him in the middle of a desert!. I hated the book so much I threw it down on the ground and jumped on it in my English class (turns out it was one of my teacher's favorite books!. oops)!.
Thoreau is so condescending and contradicting in his writing! He lives "away from society" in "solitude," yet he goes into town on the weekends and talks to everyone that crosses his path!

Yeah, I really hate that book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold!. All it was was a bunch of boring unrelated events from a dead girl's perspective!. She would talk about random stuff that had nothing to do with the plot and there would be flashbacks where it didn't reveal anything about the story!. Sebold used annoying metaphors and some sentences were just plain weird!. She talked about a mother who ordered toast in a coffee shop and buttered it with her tears!. First of all, it sounds almost like she buttered the coffee shop with her tears!. And she makes weird comparisons with her characters' eyes!. She compared one character's eyes to to pitted black olives!. Basically, the story was pointless, boring, and, at points, very annoying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Worst Writer: Hands down, Ernest Hemingway!. He was a chauvanist pig masquerading as an intellectual writer, and his contemporaries were way superior to him!.

Distant Runner Ups: Agreed on Nicholas Sparks; I think I've liked the movies that were made from his books, and that's saying something, because the movies were nothing like the books!. also Thoreau; Walden was a chore to get through!.

Worst Book Ever: The God of Small Things by Arundathi Roy!. This was the most disgusting piece of trash ever written, yet people feel fit to give it awards because it's "so exotic"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm usually picky about the books that I read, but I kind of thought, oh hell, if I read this twilight then I have a right to state my opinion on it!. The more I read the worse it was!. I didn't even manage to finish Breaking Down or Breaking Headboards or whatever you want to call it!. I'm sure there are even worse books and authors, but this one is the worst that I managed to cross my way with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have to agree with you, Nicholas Sparks is one of the worst I've read, all his books have basically the same themes!.

I also got to say Stephenie Meyer, I read the Twilight series and liked it but not the author!. Mediocre writing style and confusing!.

Worst book is Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad!.!.!. I can't even put it into words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Agreed!. Sparks should have stopped writing about 4 novels ago!.

I really hated a book called Hell of a Dog!. I can't even remember who it was by!. My brother bought it for me one christmas and he got it out of a bargain bin at the bookstore!. Next Christmas I wrapped it back up and gave it back to him!.
Dogs do not make good detectives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have actually never read a bad book!.

If I thought the writing was bad in the first few paragraphs, I didn't read the book!.
