I don't know where on God's green earth you've found this - but honestly, I have never heard this before in my life, and I have researched them alot!.
If the Bronte sisters were lesbians, they were first class liars!. I mean, like spy liars!. All their books are about hetrosexual love!. They were close friends, true, but they were Christians too!. And there is NO proof they were lez!. I think they were just normal people!.

I've never heard such a thing!. I know they had hard childhoods and went through a lot of tough stuff in their lives, but I've never heard anything about them being lesbians!. I think that's probably a rumor someone started because they were bored and had nothing better to do than to make things up about famous writers -_-Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hear about stuff like this all the time, people trying to claim that classical writers were homosexual!. But I have not heard it about the them!. I agree with Harold Bloom when he states that he does not like reading a lot of modern literary criticism because it focuses too much on the sexuality of the authors and characters!. I think some people might say something to that effect due to the fact that they want them to be!. The Brontes (and Jane Austen) were kind of feminists before feminism was even an idea!. They excelled in a field that was completely dominated by men at the time (sound familiar!?)!. Some people (still) associate feminism with lesbianism!. However, without any proof, who's to say!.

And I think the more important question is: Even if they were, does that have any bearing on their writing!? Would anyone claim that they were better or worse authors due to their sexuality!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think they were!.!. ppl have claimed the same thing about jane austen and her sister too because in the past, people could hold hands with somebody of the same sex and nobody thought it was homosexual behaviour as they all did the same thing, it was just a closeness that people are too afraid to get involved in anymore!. even in recent history, like 60+ year olds will probably remember holding hands and would not have been thinking anything odd about it!. *I'm not saying that I think homosexuality is odd!.!. just to clarify :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

No quite the opposite!. I believe each married a man and I know I read some where that Charlotte fell in love with a professor despite the fact that he was married!. (sounds like Jane Eyre doesn't it) She wanted to marry him but she later fell in love with another guy and died a year after they got married!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
