Harlen Coben's Myron Bolitar series is similar to Evanovich in terms of humor served alongside memorable characters and decent plot!. (His stand-alone work is darker, and I admire it greatly!.)

Lawrence Block's "The Burglar Who!.!.!." series is also relatively light!. His Matthew Scudder series is darker, something like Patterson (but, IMO, leagues better)!.
