singular or plural!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

People are giving you very confusing answers!!!!

I think it's hang (without an s) as you are talking about the paintings (plural)!. e!.g!. A collection of paintings hang in the North Gallery!.

If you were to talk about The Collection (i!.e!. a noun) then it would be hangs with an s!. e!.g!. The collection hangs in the North Gallery!.

If you want to be 100% sure, you can phone the British Library!.

A collection of paintings 'hangs' on the wall - it is 'a collection' that you are referring to!. If you were to say 'the paintings' then it would be 'the paintings hang on the wall!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com

A collection of paintings is singular (regardless of how many paintings there are)!. So it's 'a collection of paintings hangs on the wall'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In 'collection' the many items have become one!. I'd say singular, hang!. Or, if in the past tense, 'hung'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

some cracking thick answers here "singular, so hang"

If it's singular (and there's only one collection) it's "hangs" isn't it!?
