How can I read faster?

Question: How can I read faster!?

I have until monday night to finish a 479 page book!.!.!.
I've gotten about 60 paged into it already, but I read SOOO terribly slow!.
What are some tips to help me read quicker!? When I read slowly I can comprehend everything just fine!.!.!. but if I try to speed up I end up getting all mixed up!.!.!.

The novel is King Rat by James Clavell if that helps in any way!.!.!.!.

Ooooooh! King Rat! Short, but fairly difficult!

Try this!.!.!.train yourself to only stop your eyes once per line, in the middle of the page!. If you aren't getting the information, try only twice per page!. You shouldn't need more than that!. You need to train yourself to NOT stop your eyes at every word!. THAT is why you read slowly!. When you get to the exciting parts of a novel, your eyes NATURALLY do this, but when you are in a boring part, you need to train yourself to read this way!.

It's difficult to learn, but it works!. Put a finger in the middle of the first line, and try dropping it a line, moving your eye with it!. Your peripheral vision picks up much more than you think it will!. If this doesn't work, then use two fingers (first and middle)!. I find this to be perfect with a more difficult book!.

You will really enjoy the book when you're done!. I think!. It is the true story of James Clavell's own experiences in a Japanese internment camp during WWII, and is pretty much the basis of the rest of his works!. The main character, and a couple of others find their way into a couple of his later works!. Even though it's his shortest work it's much more difficult to read!.!.!.less gratuitousness and all!. You should try the picture technique!.!. Create an image in your head while you are reading the text!. Trust me it helped me :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
