During the supper with the drawves, they began to describe the nature of the adventure and the danger involved!.

Poor Bilbo all but passed out with fright!. The drawves weren't very impressed with this and as he came awaked Bilbo overheard one of them saying that he "!.!.!.looked more like a grocer!.!.!."

This offended Bilbo's pride and the Tookish side, the book says, (I'll explain this later) took over!. So he agreed to go along with them!.

But by the next morning he came to his senses and decided not to go, when he woke up and found that every one had left!.

But gandalf appeared and hurried him out of the house in such a rush that he forgot that he had decided not to go!.

Before he knew it he was on his way to an adventure!.

About Bilbo's "Tookish side"

On his mother's side Bilbo is related to the Took family!. Legend has it that way back in their ancestry, a Took married an elf or someone with elvish blood!. So occassionally, descendants of the Took family go off on adventures!.

Hobbits don't go on adventures as a rule!. Adventuring is very un-Hobbit-like behaviour and other hobbits view it with suspicion!. They blame the Took ancestry for such "strange" behaviour!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i can't remember the exact moment, but when they are having a dinner and dwarves sings songs about all the adventures Bilbo thinks that these things are so cool and i think that's why he agrees to go with them when they come back for him in the morning!.
