Question: If I get a book published, does that count as a second job!?
I know you get paid, so it seems like it would be a second job!. Would I have to claim it as such!? Since I won't necessarily get getting a steady paycheck from it!. Would I have to change the info (saying it is my only job) at my current job!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. Thats not your secong job!. Thats your secondary Income!. You dont need to change your info at your office for such a thing!. If you had to fill in a space like Hobbies and Interests while filling the application at your office, then you may like to add "Writing" there! Else it is fine!.

The income from sale of books to an author is either as writer's fee and royalty!. Usually both are taxable sources of income!. Depending on your tax laws, you may have a special rate of taxation for books (It is available in some countries to promote written literature!)!. Otherwise, it is taxable not under Salary Income but under Income From Other Sources!.

I am assuming you are not having it self published!. If you are in fact getting a big publisher to take it on and receiving a check for it, I would see an accountant!. It would probably be extremely easy to handle for any compotent CPA!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
