You should try Flush by the same author as Hoot!.
Inkhart by Cornelia Fluke could be good!.
The Theiflord was excellent and gripping!.
Stargirl and Loser by Jerry Spenelli were superb!.
I would also look into the Bartameus trilogy, they are fantasy adventure but have some attitude and wit!.
