hi, hope i'm thinking of the right book here, when the characters go to the space ship and hear the music, and then at the end someone goes back in time and creates it!. which composer is it that they say wrote it!.

Douglas Adams wrote somewhere (I think it's in 'The Salmon of Doubt') that his main inspiration for writing is music, and that's most obvious from this book!. He loved the Beatles and Bach, and said of the latter:
