Yes, Bella's character is bold, honest, responsible and maybe a bit goody-goody!. But still, she puts others before herself!. She is selfless and wants to make others happy first before herself!. When Edward left her in New Moon, she tried very much to move on with her life!. That makes her very independent and strong as a woman!.
