Yes, Edward is technically dead!. All bodily fluids including sperm turn into venom!. Apparently, in Stephenie's world, vampire and human can have babies but vampire and vampire can't!. Which is weird, because, a weak human can carry some demon growth spawn that's crushing her pelvis and ribs but a strong vampire can't!? stephenie meyer has explained that vampire venom sort of replaces sperm!.!.!.hence why Renesmee was part vampire!.!.!.if Edward had sperm she would probably be just a normal human child!.!.!.but there is vampire venom inside of her!.!.!.
