A book about water, and being submerged in it?

Question: A book about water, and being submerged in it!?

I've run into a small wall on a book I'm reading!.
A chapter discusses how when a character in a novel goes into/under the water (the sea, lake, pond, river, pool) it probably symbolizes them being reborn or baptized!.
I can't think of a book that involves this!.!. any suggestions!?!?
I considered Huck Finn but couldn't think of a specific example!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
