It is a very important book!. Especially, since you will probably be fed the normal plethora of liberal/socialist thinking from most of your teachers and professors in the future!. The book makes one think about the value of capitalism vs!. socialism, and how important the people are who actually produce value in society versus those who spend their energies trying to redistribute that value to others!. The problem with the book is that it is ridiculously long, the story line really only exists to get Ms!. Rand's philosophy across!. It is also pretty repetitive in its message!. I must admit, I believe that her concept of Objectivism, the basic philosophy, is one of the most important concepts I have ever learned, but you don't really need to grind through the book's entirety to "get it"!. I recommend you read the book as far as you can!. At least half of the book, until you start feeling like you're hearing the same message repetitively!. If the story line grabs you, then of course you will want to finish!. If not, you will, imo, get what you need from it to apply towards future thought and analysis!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sure!. What's not to like!? There's a business woman trying to save a railroad (yawn), two buffoons chasing down conspiracies, and a guy who gives a marathon speech about the virtues of Self-Centeredness!.

Aside from having all those great plot points, it's the very same book that every other rebel intellectual seeking to rebel against the status quo of knowledge and outlook has read!. She's certainly an innovator too, a true blue thinker with no concept of rational relativity!. Society centered thinking is bad, and serving the self above all else is good!. One extreme to the other, and we all know how great extremist thinking is! I mean the list of great contributors to society who stretch to these far reaching ends is endless: Bin Laden, Bush, Hitler, Reagan, etc!. It goes on and on!.

You should definitely skip right over rational philosophers and go to Rand!. And stop there, like so many others do!. I mean Rand's philosophy has inspired a lot of the most successful corporate founders in modern society! It's gotta be great!

Hail Rand and Objectivism!

{Cough} sarcasm {cough cough} :)

add---> Ayn Rand SUCKS!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I first read it when I was 16 and I loved it!. I didn't find it at all boring!. I read it about 5 times that year!. It sounds like it suits your interests perfectly!. I think you should give it a shot if you're interested!. What do you have to lose, after all!? It might be your favorite book in the world!.
Either way, then you'll know!. I recommend it, for what that's worth!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I tried unsuccessfully to read it!. I didn't finish because I just couldn't get into it!. I didn't hold my attention!. Maybe I'll try again someday!. Anyway, I say its better to try it because you may like it!. But if you don't find it interesting, you don't have to finish it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I started Atlas Shrugged and really liked it, it was philosophical with a hint of political edge!. It is sooo thick, though!. So if you are really up for it, go for it! I'd really suggest George Orwell's "Animal Farm" it is political and humorous!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is a very good read for the most part!. I know that I had trouble with the speech by JG and it can be very repetitive!. But it is a very interesting book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
