I have all the backstorys and plots all ready to go!. I need to start writing, and I have NO IDEA how I should begin the story!. It is about a teenaged boy living in an ancient korean village for a few chapters, but I want to open with something intriguing and eye catching!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Korea has a beautiful backdrop for you to set your story against so I would suggest opening with a description of the surrounding area and its history!. I would then pan into the boy working in the hills, or hunting or playing!. Here is how I would introduce it: Gojoseon, a land rich in rice, bronze and legend, was a land that had breathtaking summers and life taking winters!. Heaven lake was a magical place said to be the place from where Dangun's father descended!. A place avoided by locals for fear of reprisals from the Gods of Baekdu Mountain!. One boy avoided such warnings!. His love for fishing in the lake's calm waters drew him there and the beauty of the place and the quality of the fish dispersed any fear of the Gods!. How could Gods be so cruel as to deny his people such bountiful fish!? Hope that helps you make a start to your story!. Even if your story is not going to be a fantasy (or about fish) I still think you should feature a lot of the history, culture and scenary in your writing!. Like carrying water for his village or whatever!. Something that sets the context!. OR, start with like a prologue, with the boy's parents or something that creates mystery, but you understand at the end of the book!. Then start your story with a hopeless romance like Romeo and Juliet, or sudden fighting scene like Star Wars!. Hope your story will be a popular cinema!.
