Question: What happens when we run out of plots for books!?
Well, it seems to me that the plots are getting a little overused lately!. What was imaginative and cliche twenty years ago (a school for wizards, vampires) is now cliche and boring and overused!.!.!.so we writers are forced to go to more extreme levels to not copy off anyone's idea!. The question is, what happens when that is no longer possible!? Will they pass something that makes it allowable to plagarise a tiny bit, if it is unavoidable!?
I just hope there's a market for writers in the future!

The more simple or broad you make something, the more similarities you'll find!. Since people have been writing stuff down, how many stories have gone along the lines of "boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl"!? The settings and themes of stories go in and out of style!. Right now wizards and vampires and pirates are common, but it won't always be that way!. How many of Shakespeare's plays took place in Italy!? It will always be possible to keep writing things in an original manner!. When we run out of things to write about, we'll also run out of new songs to compose and new pictures to paint!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
We ran out of plots a thousand years ago!. We just keep reworking the same ones!.
The "school for wizards" idea isn't a plot, but a concept or a hook, and there are always plenty of those to be found -- or reworked!.
For example, boarding school stories have been popular in the UK for a hundred and fifty years!. Rowling made it a wizard school, but even in that, she wasn't the first, but just the most popular!.

The basic plots of Harry Potter "boy becomes man" and "good vs evil!."
The basic plots in Twilight are "love triangle" and "good vs evil!."
Vampires, wizards, schools, etc are merely the most popular vehicles for plots that transcend time!. Two hundred years ago, people were writing "boy becomes man" "love triangle" and "good vs evil!." In two hundred years, people will still be writing them because they're real and contemporary to ALL human existence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
