I would recommend you start with 'Interview with the Vampire' which is her best novel in my opinion!. I remember reading it when I was meant to be studying for my school exams but I just couldn't put the book down - it's really excellent!.

'The Vampire Lestat' and 'Queen of the Damned' follow on from 'Interview with the Vampire' and are also brilliant novels!.

The next book in the Vampire Chronicles is 'The Tale of the Body Thief' - it's a very good novel in it's own right but after 'Queen of the Damned' which brought together a large number of important and interesting characters - 'The Tale of the Body Thief' seems a bit tame as it's mainly focused on only two of the characters from the previous books!. The same goes for 'Memnoch the Devil' - this one is a bit slow to get started but once you get into it - it's really very good!.

The Mayfair Witches trilogy is very good - it starts with 'The Witching Hour' which also takes a while to get into but it's absolutely compelling reading once you do!. I think it's about a thousand pages long but it's definitely worth reading!.

Generally, Anne Rice's early novels are her best works!. The Vampire Chronicles are great but I found myself pretty disappointed when I came to the end of the series!. 'The Vampire Armand' has to be one of the biggest disappointments ever in a novel that I was so looking forward to reading!. also the last two books in the Vampire Chronicles - 'Blackwood Farm' & 'Blood Canticle' are just awful and I would recommend avoiding these two books!.

I would definitely recommend 'The Mummy' - I think this is one of her best novels and I've read it a few times!. It's set between Egypt and London in the early twentieth century and it's a brilliant mix of horror, thriller, mystery and romance and it's well worth reading!.

Anne Rice has stopped writing horror novels now and instead she is working on a series of novels about the life of Jesus!. I think it's pretty obvious that when she was writing the last couple of books for the Vampire Chronicles she had pretty much lost interest in them and was just churning them out to pay the bills!. But really, the ones I've mentioned above - the first books of the Vampire Chronicles, the Mayfair Witches Trilogy and The Mummy are all excellent and I would definitely recommend them!.

Read her earlier stuff!.!.!.it is really good!. In my opinion, her books went downhill after the first several!. Here are some "must reads" that I have read a few times and never disappoint:

1!. Interview with the Vampire
2!. The Vampire Lestat
3!. The Queen of the Damned
4!. The Witching Hour

The first three are a series, and should be read in that order!. The fourth is separate from those!. There are many more books in the vampire series and a few more in the witch series, but these are by far the winners! I highly recommend them!Www@QuestionHome@Com

interview with vampire is really good, and so is the sequel, the vampire lestat, which sort of tells the whole story, but from lestats point of view, interview is from louis' point of view!.
after that, there are others but those two are great!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
