Question: Why do people go out of their way to bash Twilight and Stephenie Meyer!?
I am not talking about people who are disappointed in Breaking Dawn (which I was not) and post questions about that or the people who post questions about the Twilight Saga and not liking it in general!. I am talking about the people who click into questions about Twilight and Stephenie Meyer and then answer the questions by saying that the saga is no good, Stephenie is a horrible writer, etc!. I am sure you all know what I am talking about!.
I have actually asked one of the answerers (whose identity I am not going to reveal, that would just be low) who does this quite frequently this straight out, but as I wait for a response, all I can do is speculate!.
Here is my theory: they are jealous of Stephenie and her almost instantaneous success (I mean, she did dream up, write and land the Twilight deal within six months)!. How many of these people would like to be in her shoes, but since they are not they find it easy to tear her down!. Yep!.!.!.I chalk it up to jealousy!. What do you guys think!?
And, yes, I know that I am going to get some of those very contributers that I am talking about answering my question with some variation of "because the books suck and Stephenie is a terrible writer", but I really don't care! I wanna hear what everyone else thinks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, I've got a few things to say, so I'll give you a list - a paragraph would be too much to read all in one chunk!. Please keep in mind that this answer applies to *me* only, and no one else unless they happen to refer to my answer in their answer!. =)
1!.) I don't think I go out of my way to bash the Twilight series!. I state my opinion (which is, basically, that the books suck) when people ask for it!. There are hundreds of questions asking "What did you think of Twilight!?" and I say what I think!. I also have no problem stating what are, in my opinion, the negative aspects of Twilight to anyone who asks "Should I read Twilight!?" - this is mostly so that the person can make an unbiased decision; 9/10 of the answers to this question say something like, "OMG YES!!! it's the BEST BOOK EVARR!!!"!.!.!. I'm just trying to even out the responses a bit!. I don't think I'm being unreasonable; I have rational reasons for disliking the series and I state them willingly (though I'm not listing them here because I'm already writing a huge response -- if anyone wants to hear my reasons/opinion, feel free to shoot me an e-mail, or take a look through some of my older answers)!.
2!.) I try not to bash Stephenie Meyer - she is a successful published author, and no matter how much I dislike her books, writing style, etc!., I do respect her as a person!. Any time I may bash her is probably one of these situations: a) I typed out my answer in such a way that it was misread by others, b) I was talking negatively about her books, writing style, etc!. and others took it as if I was talking negatively about her, or c) I wasn't thinking when I was answering and was inadvertently rude!. I'm sorry if this occurs, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes!. I don't agree with what SM has to say sometimes -- especially what she implies through her writing -- but that doesn't mean I'm bashing her!.
3!.) It's a bit hard to ignore the Twilight questions when they've made up at least 3/5 (probably more) of Books & Authors for the past few months!.
4!.) I am in no way jealous of Stephenie Meyer!. I'm glad she has the success she does - it's great to be able to achieve your dream like that, especially so quickly, and I hope that one day I'll be able to be just as successful in achieving my own dreams!. And, I'm a bit appreciative of Stephenie and also JK Rowling in particular - they got my generation reading! (I'm 17 and no longer the "weird girl who likes books!." !.!. I am the "weird girl" for other reasons, but I don't really care, lol!.) And as other people pointed out, many anti-Twilighters love Harry Potter!.!.!. so your jealousy theory doesn't quite work out!.
By the way, I'd like to add a huge Thank You! because you are one of the few Twilight fans on Y!A who is capable of rational thought!. Even the Twilighters have to admit that the rabid fans are annoying and downright rude sometimes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Probably because they don't like the books and are immature, so they waste everybody elses time by putting stupid comments and trying to start an argument when nobody else really cares whether they like the books or not because that was not the question that was asked!.!.!. but that's just what i think, who knows, maybe they have a whole different reasonWww@QuestionHome@Com
i dont know what their problem is shes a good writer and i love her series, maybe they are just sick of hearing about it and they all believe edward is an abusive person which he is to some extent but i dont beleive that stephenie ment it to sound like that, to me edward is an ideal man and i love him and the way he is in the books they all jsut need to get ober itWww@QuestionHome@Com
yeah perhaps!.!. im not sure!.!. but they are just angry or irritated because they dont like the series and think its was badly written, when it sold millions and mostly every body likes it!.!.

I have read the books and I find them enjoyable!.
But they are not the best books I have ever read!.
And it annoys me that people who hardly ever read, read that one series, and think it fell from heaven and that she is the most amazing writer ever!.
It's good, it just isn't as amazing as everyone is trying to say!.
I mean and it isn't that original, vampire stories and werewolf stories have been around forever, she didn't do anything turn of the century, therefore I don't think she deserves as much credit as she is getting!.
But the people who just going around saying they suck and haven't read them really annoy me, most people in my school who don't like them think that they are way to popular and lame, which is a stupid reason not to like a book!. many "twilight" bashers do not go out of their way to bash twilight!. They do not have to go out of their way because as soon as you get onto yahoo asnwers every where you look there are twilight questions flooding the page and its really effing annoying!. Just because you love twilight does not mean that you have to tell everyone about it cuz NO ONE CARES!. how many people in the world loves Final Fantasy!? so many people, its disturbing!. Everything is balanced for me!. I personally enjoy answering questions, so that's my reason for going out of my way, except it always depends on the question!. If the person is asking something that involves dissing an author, I defend the author; if a person asks something boosting the author, I display their flaws!.
I have no problem with Stephanie Meyer!.!.!. I just can't beleive how degraded her idea of vampires are!.!.!. and when I discuss the traits of vampires I grew up with (Lestat, Dracula), people ask "Ohh!.!.!. do they sparkle!? Cry!? Read minds!? Are they super strong!?!" Etc!.
It's annoying that SOME people only think the myth of vampires is Stephs idea, but the truth is!.!.!. there are SO many other ideas!. Like those vampires with one eye!.!.!. every culture from centuries ago had an idea of vampires- and none of them were like Stephs!. It's ridiculous!. And then the "aspiring," authors, aka- 12 year olds who discovered how to read through Twilight, write about those same vampires!

It's probably because it's really popular and they hate people who disagree with them!. Or maybe it's because they have no lives!. I don't really know!. I never tell people they are right or wrong!. The most I can say is that I hated something and explain why and just state that it's my opinion and shouldn't affect yours!. I like Twilight but saying I like it shouldn't make anybody mad so much!. That's pathetic when people need to get so angry over an opinion!. That's why I don't get involved in fanbases!. Just too much drama!. I've noticed that the people who say that the series is horrible do that to almost every question about it!. Again that's pathetic!. They should probably go out more and learn not to waste their hatred on a book!. That's unhealthy!. So I say just try to ignore them and stick to the believe that your opinion is the only one that counts and no amount of hatred should change that!. Just ignore them because if they have to spend all day on a site posting responses to how much they hate Twilight, then they are the truly pathetic ones!.

Disappointment which turned into anger!. Everyone expected this amazing last book out of her, and it wasn't what they thought it would be!. She never was the best of authors, she never planned to be one either, it just happened to fall into her lap!. It didn't help that her writing style changed so much, and for the worse!. Then everything her prior books had led up to in this book were!.!.!. gone!.
I also think there are way too many young readers who were shocked by this change in her book!. SM had wanted these to be adult books originally, and she tried to let it show in this last one!. There are many reasons why people might go out of their way to bash Stephanie Meyer and Twilight!. Several people have already mentioned jealousy of the author, but I don't think that's it!. From what I've read from the "bashers" the idea that Stephanie Meyers is successful doesn't really come up as an issue too often!. I think it is frustration that drives the bashers!.
I have a couple of observations!. One group of bashers just seem to want to hate on people who are very excited about these books; it's the same for Harry Potter fans, too!. There always seems to be someone ready to put down fans because of their exuberant and repeated questions about Twilight, or about a pat answer that Twilight is the best book ever, or when asked about a good book to read the only response comes back as TWILIGHT!. I understand the excitement of a new book, etc!., but I also understand the frustration at seeing the same patterns again and again and again!.!.!.!.
Second, since the release of Breaking Dawn, there are bashers that use to be fans or are borderline fans--those completely disappointed by the book!. These people have spend time and lots of money on Stephanie Meyer and feel cheated as a result!. It doesn't help them when Stephanie Meyer seems indifferent to her fans!. They' frustrated and looking for a way to vent their frustrations!.
That being said, in my job I evaluate and critique literature!. I've been doing it for 20 years!. also, I went to university with Stephanie Meyer and I like her very much!. But I don't like Breaking Dawn!. It is her weakest novel; it is not well written!. That does not mean people won't like it!. For example, Dracula is an abyssmally written novel, as is Frankenstein; however, neither of those are (STILL) lacking a fan base!.
Eventually, the Twilight questions will settle back down, until then would-be bashers would serve themselves best by avoiding Twilight/Meyer related questions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I believe that a lot of people are just tired of the endless Twilight questions that take over this board!. The same questions are repeated over and over again, and some are just pointless!.

I'm tired of seeing questions like this every time I refresh a page, and I'm not even a true twilight hater!. So, I know how hard it must be for people who really can't stand the series!. People who want to ask questions concerning Twilight should check to see if it has been asked recently already!. It would help to preserve a lot of people's sanity on this board!.

I think chalking it up to jealousy is immature and petty, to be frank!. I think you need to learn what an opinion is-- just because a person doesn't like something doesn't mean it's because of jealousy!. Maybe we just-- hmmm-- DON'T LIKE IT! Like I said!. Opinion!. I hate it when people say, "You are just jealous!" or "Giving me thumbs down just means you agree with me!"!. We aren't negative because we are jealous!. We are negative because it's our OPINION!. It just seems petty and childish to blame it on jealousy!.
If we hate it because we're "jealous", explain to me why so many of the anti-Twilighters adore Harry Potter!. Harry Potter= 400 million copies in print!. Twilight= 12 million!. Yeah!. Definitely jealousy, eh!?

Most of the anti-Twilighters make snide comments about the series or Smeyer because we are sick of 12-17 year old girls blabbering about "how like, ehmawgawd, like, Stephenie, is like, so great and like, i LoVe EdWaRd like LOLZ! Twilight is like, oh my god, the best book like, ever, like wow!"!. It seems like half of the Twilight fans have never read anything outside of Harry Potter, Twilight, Eragon, and/or The Clique, and it therefore rather discounts their opinion of "good writing" and "good authors" in our books!. They act like Smeyer is some sort of God, and it annoys because there are better books out there and authors more deserving of the attention Smeyer gets!. Most of us feel like her series is undeserving of the hype it has!. Plus a lot of us have issues with the message this series sends-- a lot of us feel that it is in some way anti-feministic or promoting bad morals-- and we have a problem with that!. Yeah, I agree with Chrissy B!.!.!.Stephenie Meyer's writing is pretty bad!.!.!.maybe it's not her fault!.!.!.maybe her editor should have caught all the grammatical errors and other confusing mistakes in her writing!.!.!.but the messy way in which she comes up with an easy resolution to all her stories in the Twilight Saga shows that she isn't the best storyteller either!.!.!.

Actually her writing style is rather atrocious!. In Twilight, she writes terribly!. You'd think she'd get better but she doesn't!. and then u have the first book that was turned into a movie called interview with a vampire guess who played those vampires Tom cruise played lestat n Brad Pit play lewis they have some really big actors in that so u know they got to be good books why don't u check out the Vampire chronicles u might not like them as much as twilight serries but they are really good and worth reading Www@QuestionHome@Com
